Some Canvas exams require the use of the Respondus LockDown Browser. Follow these instructions below to download and access the browser. Administrator rights are required to install and use this program for both Windows and macOS. At present, support for * Windows 10/11 "S Mode" isn’t on the roadmap for LockDown Browser. * Windows 10/11 "SE" is currently not a compatible operating system for LockDown Browser. macOS 10.15 to 14+ The browser is based on Google Chrome for both versions. Install Respondus LockDown Browser Download the Respondus LockDown Browser software from the Respondus website. Links to both versions are included below. Respondus Lockdown Browser - Windows version Respondus Lockdown Browser - macOS version Click Download + Install LockDown Browser. Click Download. Run the downloaded file by clicking on it. The downloaded file can be found in your Downloads folder. Click Yes. Choose Language as English. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement then click Next. Click Finish. Start Respondus LockDown Browser. Windows users may have a shortcut saved to the desktop. They can also open the Start menu and scroll down to the Respondus folder to find Lockdown Browser. Mac users can launch the browser from the Applications folder via Finder, or by opening the spotlight search (Mac - Cmd (⌘) + K) and searching for Lockdown. Complete the installer setup. You must have administrator access to install this program. Updating Respondus LockDown Browser Open Respondus LockDown Browser. Click the Information Windows Key (⊞) + E button. If you're using a Mac, click the About button on the toolbar. Click the Check for Newer Version button. If an update is available, you will see information about the new update. Click the Get Update button. It may take some time for the update to download. Exit the browser to complete the update once the download is complete.
