Email - Accessing Account After a Password Change

The default mail client for Android devices varies depending on the manufacturer of the phone. If your KU account is set up with Gmail as the default, you will see an alert at the top indicating that your credentials need to be updated.

Click "Sign-in" to open the KU single sign-on, where you'll enter your KU online ID and your new password.

1. After you've changed your KU password, your iOS device (iPhone or iPad) will prompt you with an alert that says to enter your password. Tap "Edit Settings" to be redirected to the account page. 

• If not prompted, go to the Settings app, then Mail. Click on Accounts and choose the Exchange account. You should now be prompted to re-enter password.

3. Login using your Online ID and new password.

After you've entered this information, you can see that iOS is syncing by either the sync indicator in the upper left or by the status message in the bottom of the Mail app.

Typically, on launch MacMail will show a notification in the upper right letting you know that the Exchange password is out of date. If you see this notification, click "Continue."

This will take you to the "Internet Accounts" section of System Settings and prompt you to enter your new password.

If you don't see this alert, you can also tell that Mac Mail is not syncing by the sideways lightning bolt icon next to your KU mailbox. Clicking this icon will prompt you to enter your new password.

When you open the Outlook app on your mobile device after changing your password, a banner will appear at the bottom of the app. This banner reads: "Please sign in to your primaryEmail@ku.edu account" and has a sign in button.

Click "Sign In" to be taken to KU single sign-on, where you can enter your online ID and your new password.

In newer versions of Outlook for Mac, the KU single sign-on login portal will come up immediately upon opening Outlook. Sign in there with your new password to fix the email in that app.

For the older version of Outlook's UI, Outlook on the Mac may not prompt you to enter a new password, but it will show an icon next to your KU account that looks a bit like a sideways lightning bolt. You'll also see the status in the lower right as "Not Connected to: primaryEmail@ku.edu."

Click the indicator next to your KU account. This will pull up the KU single sign-on window, where you can enter your online ID and your new password.

When you open Outlook on your Windows computer after changing your password, you should expect to see a small window pop-up with the KU single sign-on (SSO) page come up. If you look in the lower right corner of Outlook, you'll see the status as "Trying to connect..." when this box pops up. Enter your online ID and your new password in the KU SSO window and log in.
