KU Card - Photo Upload

When uploading your photo and ID to the KU Card Center, you may run into errors for the following reasons:

  • Your photo is not compatible with the KU Card Center website.
  • You are trying to upload from a mobile device.

If you are trying to use a mobile device to upload your images, we recommend transferring your photos to your computer and uploading those files via your computer. Instructions for this process are available on the KU Card website.

Photos uploaded to the KU Card Center website must be in JPEG format; other photo formats may cause errors. If you took your photos with an iPhone running iOS 11 or later, the default file format for those photos is typically HEIF format, which isn't compatible with the KU Card system.

If you have a Mac, the Photos app to convert your HEIF photos to JPEG with the following steps:

  1. Open your photo in Photos or preview on the Mac.

  2. Click "File" and select "Export."

  3. Choose "JPEG" as the new file format.

  4. Save your file.

If you do not have a Mac or do not want to convert those files, we recommend changing your iPhone settings using the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings > Camera.

  2. Tap Formats.

  3. Tap Most Compatible.

  4. Retake your photos with these new camera settings.

Once you have completed this process, upload your compatible photos to the KU Card Center using an available computer.
