Microsoft Outlook - Creating a Rule to Flag a Specific Sender

Summary

Email inbox rules can be setup in Outlook to flag specific senders to apply specific rules to that sender's email.

  1. Select an email from the sender you wish to create a rule for.

  2. In the Home ribbon Select Rules in the Move section.
    Clicking Move button in the Home ribbon, then selecting Rules from the dropdown menu.

  3. Select Create Rule.

  4. Select Advanced Options.

  5. Select the check-box next to From LastName, FirstName of the sender. Select the check box next to assigned to a category (The option will appear this way if no category has been selected before).

  6. In the box labeled Step 2: click the underlined value to edit which category you'd like to assign the message to and then click OK.In the box labeled Step 2: Clicking the underlined value to edit what category you'd like to assign the message to and then clicking ok.

    • You can edit the name of the category as well. Select Yes or No and then Finish.
