Summary
Splashtop is a remote access solution designed for international travelers who need to access their computers while abroad. If a traveler has a computer (hosted device) that they need to access but can’t bring with them, KU IT will host that device at the Price Computing Center. Then, the traveler can use Splashtop to remotely access the device from their assigned travel laptop.

Accepting the Splashtop Invite
The Splashtop application is used to remotely access a hosted device from an assigned international travel laptop while abroad. Before you travel, you will be assigned a travel laptop and be invited to use Splashtop via email.

Open your email client, click the Splashtop email, then click: Accept the Invitation within the email.

Click: SSO Login.

Enter your KU Online ID followed by @ku.edu, then click: Single Sign On.
After you receive your travel laptop, you will be able to connect to your hosted device by following the steps in section "Connecting to a Remote Hosted Device" below.
Connecting to a Remote Hosted Device
Hosted devices are housed within Price Computing Center on KU's Lawrence Campus and are remoted into via the Splashtop application from an assigned international travel laptop. Before you travel, you will be assigned a travel laptop and be invited to use Splashtop via email. If you haven't already, follow the steps in section "Accepting the Splashtop Invite" above.
Mac
If the travel laptop you are taking abroad is a Mac, follow the steps below to launch the Splashtop Business application and remote into a hosted device.

Open Splashtop Business, either from the dock, the Applications folder, or by searching for it in Finder. Once the Splashtop Business window opens, click: Single Sign-On login.

Enter your KU Online ID followed by @ku.edu, then click: Log In.

A KU Single Sign-On window will open. Confirm SSO by entering your KU Online ID and password.

Splashtop may also send a confirmation email to you. If it does, click: OK on any pop-up messages and log in to your Outlook Email Online, find the email Splashtop sent to you in your inbox, open the email, and click: Yes, this was me - authenticate device.

Return to the Splashtop business login window and click: Log In.

Once Splashtop Business opens, find the hosted device's name in the list, and double-click it.

In the Mac user name and password fields, enter your KU Online ID and KU Online ID password respectively, then click: OK.

Click: Log in at the top to login to the hosted device.

When you are finished working on the hosted device, log out as normal by clicking the Apple icon, then Log Out.

Click the Disconnect button in the top bar and close the Splashtop application to fully end your remote session.
Windows
If the travel laptop you are taking abroad is a Windows device, follow the steps below to launch the Splashtop Business application and remote into a hosted device.

Open Splashtop Business by either clicking its icon in the task bar or searching: Splashtop in the search bar, then click: Single Sign-On login.

A KU Single Sign-On window will open. Confirm SSO by entering your KU Online ID and password.

Once logged in, a browser screen will display notifying you that you logged in successfully.

Splashtop may also send a confirmation email to you to verify your login attempt. If it does, log in to your Outlook Email Online, find the email Splashtop sent to you in your inbox, open the email, and click: Yes, this was me - authenticate device.

Return to Splashtop Business and click: Log In.

A list of available computers will display in the app. Double-click the name of the hosted device you wish to connect to.

A remote login window will open. For username and password, enter your KU Online ID and password, ensure domain is set to HOME in the third box, then click: OK.

Click: Log in in the top banner to complete your login to the hosted device.

When you are finished on the hosted device, sign out of the device as normal by clicking the Power icon and selecting: Sign Out.

Click the Disconnect button in the top bar and close the Splashtop window to fully end your remote session.
