PURPOSE:

Inform public on who is eligible to utilize the services.

APPLIES TO:

Students on the Lawrence and Edwards campuses.

CAMPUS:

Edwards, Lawrence

POLICY STATEMENT:

Students who are currently enrolled at the University of Kansas Lawrence and Edward campuses, and have paid the required student fee, may receive any of our services at no additional charge. Students are not required to use Legal Services for Students regarding any legal matter.

Please call Legal Services for Students at 785-864-5665 or stop by our office at 2030 Burge Union to set up an appointment.

LEGAL ADVICE IS NOT PROVIDED OVER THE TELEPHONE OR VIA EMAIL.

EXCLUSIONS OR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:

Students at the KU Medical Center in Kansas City are not eligible for our legal services because they do not pay the Legal Services for Students required student fee. However, due to special IRS grant funding, we are able to assist international students, faculty and staff at all of the KU campuses for international tax advising.

BACKGROUND:

Legal Services for Students was created in 1979 by KU Student Senate and is an example of Student Senate's commitment to providing students with services critical to support personal and academic success. Legal Services for Students is funded by Student Senate through a portion of the required student fees.
