PURPOSE:

This policy outlines the eligibility, the requirements for the Pepsi Scholarship including the length of the scholarship, renewal criteria and any exceptions to the scholarships.

APPLIES TO:

Incoming and current undergraduate students who are children of benefits eligible KU faculty and staff at the University of Kansas.

POLICY STATEMENT:

With the proceeds of a contract between Pepsi co. and the University of Kansas, the university has created the Pepsi Merit Scholarship for dependent children (or step-children) of benefits eligible KU faculty and staff (KU affiliates included) who meet certain academic requirements.

Eligibility

Students must be the dependent children (or stepchildren) of benefits eligible KU faculty or staff members (KU affiliates included) pursuing their first undergraduate degree: freshman, transfer and current KU undergraduate students.

Applicants will apply by either signifying on their application for admission that their parent is an employee of KU or a KU Affiliate, or by submitting the Pepsi application by the scholarship deadline.

Incoming freshman must meet the minimum academic criteria of a cumulative 2.5 high school GPA.

Incoming transfer applicants must meet the minimum academic criteria of a 2.5 transferrable GPA.

Current KU students who apply must meet the minimum academic criteria of a 2.5 cumulative KU GPA.

Terms

Students must be enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Kansas. The Pepsi scholarship will expire after four years of undergraduate study or upon earning an undergraduate degree, whichever occurs first.

Renewal

Recipients must maintain a cumulative 2.5 KU GPA, be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more hours) at KU, and a parent must continue to be a benefits eligible employee of KU or a KU Affiliate.  Renewal scholarship amounts are $500 (2.50-2.99 KU GPA), $750 (3.0-3.49 KU GPA), and $1000 (3.5-4.0 KUGPA).
