The purpose of this policy is to promote the rigorous and fair evaluation of candidates for promotion and tenure.
These procedures are established as a means to resolving disputes. They shall be applied so as to protect the due process and other rights of parties to the dispute.   These dispute resolution procedures are intended to supplement, not supplant, other more informal means of resolving disputes that may arise, and parties are encouraged to resolve disputes informally before resorting to formal procedures.
