Setting an alias does not change your KU Online ID. You will still need to log into KU services using your KU Online ID after setting an email alias. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours before you will start getting emails at your new alias. Contact the KU IT Customer Service Center if not resolved with in 24 hours.

Creating a New Alias

Go to https://myidentity.ku.edu
Log in with your KU Online ID and password.
Click Email Services.
Click Manage Aliases.
Click the Add an Alias button under your Email Aliases.
- If you don't see this button, it indicates that you've maxed out your number of allowed aliases.
Enter the new alias you want in the box, then press Add Alias to save the change.

When the alias has been added, you will see it listed with youa aliases, and a success banner will appear at the top of the page.

It may take some time for the email to be able to actively send or receive an email. For more information on forwarding your KU email, view KB0013376, "Forwarding KU Email."

Publishing your Primary Email Address

Please note: You can give out any of your email aliases for people to send mail to you, but your primary address is the only one that other people see when you email them (especially non-'@ku.edu' recipients).

Please note: Before you can change your primary email address, you must first create an alias to change to. Please refer to the panel above for our instructions for that process.

Please navigate to myidentity.ku.edu.
Select the Email Services option in the Email Services box.
Select the Update Your Primary Address.
Select Change and you will be able to change and set your Primary Email Alias.
