PaperCut - Re-Authenticating to MFD on macOS

The macOS keychain stores credentials for accounts and other network resources. After a user changes their password they may be unable to print to campus PaperCut devices without explicitly updating the stored password for the target printer / MFD. In most cases, the password stored in the keychain can be updated by opening the held job in the print queue and clicking the reload button.

  1. Open the print queue with a held job.

  2. Click the reload button in the queue window.

  3. Enter the new password when prompted.

Removing the Keychain Entry

In some circumstances, it may be necessary to explicitly remove the errant keychain entry in order to print from the computer.

  1. Launch Keychain Access, either via Applications -> Utilities or by doing a spotlight search.

  2. Use the search feature to find the relevant networked printer by name.

  3. Select the queue's password entry in the login keychain and then choose Delete from the Edit menu.
