AspenONE - Installation

AspenONE is available in the KU Software Store to active faculty, students, and staff. To install this software on your computer, you will need to meet the following system requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 (64-bit), Windows Server 2012 R2, or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1
  • Computer & processor: Intel Core-i5 family 2.8 gigahertz (GHz) or faster
  • Memory (RAM): 16 gigabytes (GB) RAM
  • Hard Disk: ~100 gigabytes (GB) free space available for ASPEN Suite
  • Monitor: Graphics hardware acceleration requires a DirectX10 graphics card and a 1280 x 1024 or higher resolution monitor
  • Network: 100MB/Sec

The following steps assume you have already ordered the software through the KU Software Store.

  1. Log in to the KU Software Store using your Online ID and password.
     
  2. Access your software either via the My Software link in the upper right corner, or by clicking the Login to retrieve your order items link in the confirmation email.
     
  3. Click the link labelled Aspen-V14-ENG.zip in the AspenTech section of your software page. This file is approximately 11 GB and download time will vary depending on your
    Internet connection speeds. Keep your computer unlocked while the download completes.

     
  4. Open your Downloads folder to view the file once the download is finished; it will be prepended with your Online ID, e.g. a123b456-Aspen-V14-ENG.zip.

     
  5. Right-click on the compressed file (i.e. a123b456-Aspen-V14-ENG.zip) and select Extract All....

     
  6. Click Extract. This will create a folder in Downloads with the same name (a123b456-Aspen-V14-ENG). This may take several minutes depending on your hardware.

     
  7. Open the a123b456-Aspen-V14-ENG folder to view the AspenONE installation files.



     
  8. Right-click on Setup.exe.

     
  9. Select Run as Administrator. If prompted by User Account Control to allow the app to make changes to the device, click Yes.



     
  10. Choose Install aspenONE products.

     
  11. Review and accept the software license terms, then click Next.

     
  12. Select the following items from the aspenONE product list:
    • Process Modeling (Aspen Plus)
    • Process Modeling (Aspen HYSYS)
    • Aspen Basic Engineering
    • Aspen OptiPlant
    • Make sure Aspen Basic Engineering Server under Server Products and Tools is not selected, then click Next.

       
  13. Enter engrprdlmap12.home.ku.edu in the License server box and click Add Server.

     
    • If you see this message, click Yes.

       
  14. Confirm the server is correctly added, then click Next.

     
  15. Enter a password then click Next.


     
  16. Click Install Now. The installation can take up to an hour.

     
  17. Once the installation completes, click Finish.

     
  18. Click Reboot Now. You will be able to use the software once your computer finishes restarting.
