Per EndNote system requirements, you must be running Windows 10 to use EndNote 21 on a PC.
Note: If you have an older version of EndNote installed on the computer, Clarivate recommends that you back up any EndNote files and uninstall that version.
-
Log in to the KU Software Store with your KU Online ID and password, if you haven't already.
-
Click My Software in the upper right of the page.
-
Click EndNote2025.msi to download the installer for EndNote to your computer.

-
Click _EndNote - License Key - 2025 to view the product key for EndNote. Keep the page open, as you will need to return to get the license key later during installation.

Open your Downloads folder, or wherever you chose to save the downloaded executable file, if not to Downloads, and double-click onlineid - EN2025Inst.exe.

-
Click Next to proceed to the next step.

-
Copy the product key from Step 4 and paste it into the Product Key box in the EndNote installer. Click Next to proceed.

-
Enter your name. The Your Organization field notes where your license originates; we recommend University of Kansas, but there isn't a wrong answer for this field, and you can be more specific (e.g. School of Social Welfare) if you prefer.

-
Follow the prompts in the EndNote installer, clicking Next to proceed to the next step. When prompted, click I accept the license agreement. The default options do not need to be changed during installation.

-
You may receive a User Account Control message, click Yes.

-
Click Finish when the installer completes.

-
Open your Start Menu and type EndNote to find the newly installed application. Click the icon to open the program.

-
Accept the license agreement when prompted and click Next.

This will launch EndNote 2025 for use.
