Students check out a laptop from either Watson or Anschutz Library. Staff should ensure that the student logs in to the checkout laptop while on campus after receiving. Library Staff Steps Log in with your Online ID and Password at https://groups.ku.edu. Select the group Library Checkout Laptops Temp Admin Students. You will need the role of "Group Maintainer" in that group to add a member. Select the blue Add Member button. Populate the text box with the individual you wish to add to the group and select the blue Add button. You can search using "Firstname, Lastname" or "Lastname, Firstname" or "KUOnlineID". Once you have added all desired members, select Submit. Student Steps Click the Start button. Search for "Software Center." Select Software Center. Go to the Applications section. Click on Make Me Admin. If you do not see "Make Me Admin" in Software Center Click Here Click the search bar and search for Control Panel. Click on Configuration Management. Click on Actions. Click on Machine Policy Retrieval & Evaluation Cycle. Click Run Now. Wait 5 minutes, then reopen the Software Center. You may need to restart the device. Click on Install. Click the Start button. Launch the Make Me Admin application. Click on Grant Me Administrator Rights. Admin privileges expire after 10 minutes. Launch "Make Me Admin" again to regain admin rights. If you log off or shut down the computer you will need to launch "Make Me Admin" and repeat the process. If the button is greyed out and says you lack permission to use it, first ensure that it has been at least 30 minutes since the library faculty added you to the access group. If it has been over half an hour since you were added to the group and you are still unable to interact with the "Make Me Admin" app, open Windows Command Prompt and run the command gpudate /force. Then, restart the device and the Make Me Admin should show the button to grant admin access as shown in the screenshot above. When you run an installer, you will be presented with a User Account Control window. Enter your KU Online ID and password to allow installation.
