Emergency Alerts - Setup and Sign Up Information

Emergency alert system is the same for both student and employees. However, the processes are very different for each group. The instructions below will aid users in setting up or troubleshooting emergency alert issues.

Employees

Employee Emergency Notification Management

This application allows active KU Lawrence employees to opt-in to receive emergency alert text messages. Emergency alert text messages can keep all Faculty, Staff, and Students informed in the event of an emergency.

Faculty and Staff must initially subscribe to receive emergency text messages and change/edit their phone number at the Employee Emergency Notification portlet on the myKU Portal. If you have already opted in you can edit and/or remove your phone number to opt-out.

If you have successfully opted into emergency alerts but you are not receiving them. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to ensure your wireless number can receive Rave Alerts via text.

How do I reinstate text messages?

To reinstate emergency text alerting to your phone number, text START, in all caps, to either:

Setting an Emergency Contact Number for Text Alerts

This article details how to set an emergency text number for yourself to be notified in the event the University is closed in the event of inclement weather or another emergency event.

Log into Enroll and Pay at https://sa.ku.edu and select the Personal Details tile.
Select the Contact Details option.
Then select the + icon under the Phone section to add your mobile number.
