PURPOSE:

To ensure that University of Kansas standards are met in construction or renovation of classrooms or class laboratories.

APPLIES TO:

All classrooms and class laboratories, whether centrally scheduled or departmentally controlled

POLICY STATEMENT:

Construction of all new classroom or class laboratories will conform to the University of Kansas standards that are in place at the time the design review of the proposed construction is completed. When an existing classroom or class laboratory is to be renovated or any structural elements or technological capabilities are to be otherwise altered, all changes must conform to current KU standards. This policy applies to both centrally scheduled and departmentally controlled classrooms and to class labs.

Exceptions to the standards may be granted by the Vice Provost for Scholarly Support. Units seeking exceptions must present appropriate supporting evidence and must receive written approval before any construction or modifications are undertaken.
