PURPOSE:

To provide information regarding the structure of the Optional Campus Fees’ (OCF) program.

APPLIES TO:

All students on the Lawrence, Edwards, and KU Medical Center campuses.

CAMPUS:

Edwards, Lawrence, Medical Center (KUMC)

POLICY STATEMENT:

The Optional Campus Fees’ (OCF) program is designed to provide students with easy access to special services and products and consolidation of charge(s) with a student’s tuition billing. Student Accounts & Receivables must review any proposed special services or products intended to be a part of the OCF program. The OCF program is not designed for fundraising activities, payment of membership dues, methods of generating operating monies, or promotions/advertising. Community groups not affiliated with the University of Kansas are not eligible to participate in the OCF program.

Students may choose to purchase a variety of optional special products and services offered by KU and affiliate organizations, including:

Lawrence and Edwards Campuses:

  • All-Sports Combo Package
  • Lied Center Performance Pass
  • Beak 'Em Bucks
  • Career Assessments
  • Rising Jayhawks Williams Education Fund Student Membership
  • KU Fit Group Fitness Pass
  • Theatre and Dance Season
  • Student Legislative Action Committee (SLAC)
  • Optional Wellness Fee
    • Only available for students taking one or two credit hours.

KU Medical Center Campus:

  • All-Sports Combo Package
  • Kirmayer Fitness FITT45
  • Personal Training

Some vendors offer discounts on their special products and services when purchased through the Optional Campus Fees’ program.

Students may purchase directly from campus vendors during the semester; however, the vendors require payment at the time of sale.

Participating students receive their product or services at any time during the ensuing semester or year (depending on the product or service).

Optional Campus Fees are integrated with the online enrollment process. 

EXCLUSIONS OR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES:

Optional Campus Fees are only available during the enrollment period for New Student Orientation for new students and during the main enrollment period for returning students. Optional Campus Fees are not available during add/drop times.

BACKGROUND:

The Optional Campus Fees’ program was developed to enable the University to facilitate the collection and reconciliation of established fees charged for services or products traditionally offered during enrollment periods. Efforts to consolidate the process also benefited the student by providing one enrollment and payment location.
